Colette Scharff Hofmann
Colette Scharff Hofmann, 86, of 242 Flintshire Road, died May 4, 2007 at her home. She was born April 27, 1921 in Philadelphia, a daughter of Louis and Emma Scharff. Preceded in death by her loving husband George W. Hofmann Sr, she is survived by three children: Carol A. Hofmann of Topanga, California; Joan M. Hofmann and her husband Charles L. Besozzi of Collinsville, Connecticut; George W. Hofmann Jr and his wife Linda Hofmann; four grandchildren: Daniel Hofmann Frysinger of San Francisco; Nathanael Hofmann Sayers and his wife Jennifer Lau of Brooklyn, New York; Christopher Hofmann, and Lynette Hofmann of Cary, a great-granddaughter, Elly Hofmann; one sister, Dolores Scharff Cleary of New York; a special friend Sophia Rudolph, and numerous and wonderful neighbors and friends in Winston Salem and Sherrills Ford where she had a special second home at Lake Norman. She was a loving and dedicated wife and mother whose laughter, constancy and nurturance will be sorely missed. An avid gardener and bridge player, master sewer, crocheter and maker of quilts, she was a lover of children and dogs, and will be missed by her Sheltie, Maggie. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons. The family is grateful for the support of the wonderful people from Right at Home and Hospice & Palliative Care Center who were critical to her home care. A memorial service and family visitation will be held Monday from 6-8 at Salem Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons. The interment will be in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Philadelphia. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association, St. Jude’s Hospital in Philadelphia, and Hospice of WS/FC Inc., 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
