Marian Lashmit Hall
WINSTON-SALEM - Marian Lashmit Hall – 65- Passed away peacefully at home Thursday, October 8. She was born July 28, 1944 to Edgar and Alice Lashmit. Many childhood days were spent working in tobacco and in the garden. She had a love and appreciation for the fruits of the earth. She grew up in Clemmons and graduated from Southwest High School in 1962. She obtained an Associate’s Degree from Campbell College. She worked at RJR Tobacco Company for 15 years as an Administrative Assistant. She went back to school at FTCC to obtain a certificate in Medical Transcription. She worked 13 years at WFUBMC and at Forsyth Medical Center as a transcriptionist. Marian had a love of music and she enjoyed playing the guitar and singing with friends. She will be remembered as a North Carolina Heritage Artist. She visited all 7 NC lighthouses and did pastels of each. She was a talented artist. She enjoyed doing art shows and traveling to galleries. It was important for her to leave a legacy for her family, and her talents will be treasured. She was an active, lifelong member of Hope Moravian Church where she served in Children’s Ministry and was a member of the choir. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Lodge #466. She served on the Southwind Villas HOA Board as Secretary. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, was a season ticket holder for Wake Forest football, she sold homemade goods at the Farmer’s Market, she loved to dance, she enjoyed trips to Cherokee and loved to play cards with her “card buddies”. She instilled a love of music in her children and grandchildren and loved to sing with her family. She was a gentle, humble soul with the heart of a dreamer. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Alice Lashmit, brother, Michael Lashmit. She is survived by daughters Melanie Harris (James), Marsi Mullins, sister Etta Ratledge (Kenneth), grandchildren Daniel and Matthew Harris, and Madeline Mullins, nephew Brian Ratledge (Stefanie). She will be remembered by many special friends that are too numerous to name. Her daughter’s would like to especially thank the congregation of Hope Moravian Church, Hospice and her devoted friends for their love and support during her illness. A brief graveside service will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, at Hope Moravian Church at 3:30 pm. Marian requested to celebrate her life by having a “casual gathering of friends” in a Memorial service to be held following the burial at 4 pm in the Hope Moravian Church Fellowship Hall. Those wishing to send memorials may consider Hope Moravian Church or Hospice.
