Martin Henry Lynch

Winston-Salem – Martin Henry Lynch was called home to be with his Savior on Thursday, October 1, 2009 following a brief illness. Martin was born on September 13, 1920 in Mill Spring, North Carolina, the youngest of twelve children born to Cebron Elias Lynch and Rosa Gilbert Lynch. He served in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky during World War II. In 1954, he was hired by Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company and later was affiliated with Skyland Life. In 1960, he joined Lincoln National Life Insurance Company from which he retired after more than 25 years in sales. Martin was a member of Friedland Moravian Church. While his health permitted, he enjoyed travel, golf, fishing, and visiting with his many relatives. He volunteered at the Vantage Championship and for a time was a volunteer at Forsyth Medical Center. Martin is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda Reed Lynch; his daughters, Rose Staton and husband, Dennis; Gail Tozer and husband, Mike. His grandchildren are Courtney Thomas and husband, Jeff, Jennifer Tozer, and Alex Tozer. Two great grandsons, Jake and Evan Thomas, were the joy of his life. Martin’s extended family includes Eddie and Ginger Lynch and numerous nieces and nephews. Martin was blessed with many friends and special caregiver, Doris Moffitt. A celebration of Martin’s life will be held at Friedland Moravian Church at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2009. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Friedland Moravian Church, 2750 Friedland Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
