Thomas Marshall Holland
Mr. Thomas Marshall Holland, 92, of Hertford Road died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Holland was born in Lewisville, NC to Thomas Hampton and Della Holder Holland. His early life was spent in the Winston-Salem area where he was educated, graduating from R. J. Reynolds High School. Mr. Holland was a life long member of Centenary United Methodist Church. During World War II, he served his country as a Captain in the U. S. Army Signal Corps. He retired from AT&T after 32 years in manufacturing. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Pinebrook Country Club. In 1937 he married Betty Wilson who died in 1975. He later married Mary Louise Thacker who survives of the home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Thomas Wilson Holland of Winston-Salem and James Marshall Holland of Mt. Pleasant, SC; step-children: Mr. & Mrs. George T. Milligan of Naperville, IL and Mr.& Mrs. Russell Pratt of Bahama, NC; and one granddaughter, Alexandra Grace Holland of Concord, NC. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. Friday, February 2, at Salem Funeral Home, 120 S. Main Street. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the Salem Cemetery with Rev. Jack Yarbrough officiating. Memorials may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, 646 W. 5th St., Winston-Salem, NC 27102 or to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
