Catherine Hutchinson Long, 60, died on Wednesday May 27, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Long was born in Long Branch, NJ to Catherine and Richard Hutchinson on September 30, 1954. Catherine moved with her family to Winston-Salem where she graduated from R.J. Reynolds, Salem College, and received her M.B.A from Wake Forest University, Babcock School of Business. Following her education Mrs. Long worked at Reynolds America as the training Development coordinator, following her work with R.J. Reynolds Mrs. Long worked at Workforce Development for Forsyth County. Catherine then was hired as the Director of Workforce Development for Eastern NC. Catherine and her husband Wade then moved to Stokes Co., where she took the job as Director of the Stokes County Opportunity Center, and this led to the highly enjoyable position as a part time reporter for the Stokes County News. During her professional career Catherine was honored with being on the Board of Directors of the Outreach Ministries of Stokes County and held a seat on the Board of Directors of the Stokes Partnership for Children. Besides her professional work Catherine was most inspired and enjoyed arts and music, animals of all kinds, and time spent on her deck in Duck, N.C. Mrs. Long is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Richard Hutchinson, of Hawaii. Catherine is survived by her husband of 38 years, Wade Long and her mother in law, Daisy Long, of Pfafftown. Also surviving her are her four devoted dogs and companions; Baby Gabe, Bruno, Little Rocky, and Flash the youngster. The family will plan a service to remember her life in the near future.
