Harold Marion Lominac was born July 8, 1920 in Swain County, North Carolina. He joined his mother, Jessie Sutton Lominac; father, Arthur Marion Lominac and his brother, William Frederic Lominac as the youngest in his family. Harold died March 28, 2013.
He was educated at exceptional Highland High School, Fort Thomas, KY, and the University of Cincinnati. On December 22, 1941 he, along with his brother, Bill, enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served in WWII until February 12, 1946. He was employed by the Veterans Administration from March, 1946 until July of 1975, working in Asheville, Fayetteville, Charlotte, North Carolina and the Regional Office in Winston-Salem. Harold was a member of Maple Springs United Methodist Church which he loved. He served the church when asked to the best of his ability. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Lominac Kirkman; father, Arthur Marion Lominac; brother, William (Bill) Lominac, Cincinnati, OH, and step-father Carl B. Kirkman of Winston-Salem. He is survived by his wife Helen Greer Lominac whom he married in 1955; step-brother Robert Brown Kirkman.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 2nd from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Salem Funeral Home Reynolda Chapel, 2599 Reynolda Road, at the corner of Reynolda and Polo Roads. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Maple Springs United Methodist Church. Inurnment will immediately follow the service at the columbarium on the church grounds. Anyone wishing to make a memorial in lieu of flowers, in Harold’s memory, hopefully will consider the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund, Maple Springs United Methodist Church, 2569 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or to the church of their choice. Salem Funeral and Cremations will handle arrangements.
