Nancy Hutchins Lyon

Mrs. Nancy Hutchins Lyon age 83 of Winston-Salem died Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Forsyth county on May 12, 1929 to the late Eddie W. Hutchins and the late Sarah Myers Hutchins. Mrs. Lyon was a graduate of Hanes High School where she was the school beauty queen. She attended Calvary Baptist Church. Nancy was involved with her husband Gale, in establishing several organizations including Mountain Top Youth Camp, W-S Enrichment Center, workshop for special needs adults, and Bethabara Hills Family Care Homes, also for special needs adults.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 65 years Gale W. Lyon of the home; daughters Martha Lyon Robbins (Bobby) of Winston-Salem; Jan Lyon of Concord and Beverley Lyon Cox (Barton) of Greenville, SC; and one son, Timothy Lyon of the home. Two children Daniel A. Lyon and Suzanne Lyon Bunnelle preceded her in death. She is also survived by sister, Dorothy Hutchens of Winston-Salem. Grandchildren, David (Heather) Cox; Matthew (Erica) Cox; Christina (Josh) Petty; and Adrienne (Gray) Hill and six great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at Salem Funeral Home on Reynolda Road with a brief ceremony at 2:00pm the Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank Mrs. Lyon's caregivers for their help and support during her illness.
