Virginia Fulp Lash

Mrs. Virginia Fulp Lash, 89, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

Mrs. Lash was born in Raleigh, West Virginia on January 28, 1923 to John W. Fulp and Lucy Hairston Fulp Bruce. She was married to the love of her life Kenneth H. Lash for over 50 years. They enjoyed travel and entertaining together.

She accepted Christ in her life and still believed in Him until He called her into eternal life.

Mrs. Lash attended school in Stokes County. She began working at a very young age for the Lee and Mamie Keiger Family and the Zack Reynolds Family whom she worked for many years until she moved to Reynolda Park.

She was well known in her community by her involvement with her church (where she served on the Missionary, Stewardess and Scholarship Boards), community club (Les Arbres Club where she was crowned Queen in 1972 at one of their annual Black and White Ball’s), and giving treats to the children. She thoroughly enjoyed needlepoint of which her collection included pillows, covered chairs and beautiful handbags. She learned this skill from Mrs. Mamie Keiger. She had a special gift for arranging tables to serve the most delicious foods from appetizers to the most amazing deserts including her wonderful sweet potato pie recipe which is recorded in the Wake Forest University Club Cookbook.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters: Susie Leach, Ida Pearl Cobb, Nellie Brown, and brothers: Walter Fulp, Eugene Fulp, Clem Fulp, Richard Fulp, and Leon Fulp.

She is survived by her brother Napolean Fulp (Edna) of Winston-Salem; her sister Evangelist Letha Fulp Jefferson of Bronx, NY; sisters-in-law Marion Fulp of Walnut Cove, Anne Lash of Chester, PA; brother-in-law, Billy Lash (Barbara) of Delaware and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, July 22nd, 2:30 p.m. at Bethania AME Zion Church in Rural Hall, where the body will lie in state from 2:00-2:30 p.m. A Committal Service will be held Monday, July 23rd, 10:00 a.m. at Forsyth Memorial Park Columbarium.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Kenneth Lash Scholarship Fund, C/O: Bethania AME Zion Church, 1705 Bethania Rural Hall Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045.
