Ruth O'Neal Pepper

Mrs. Ruth O’Neal Pepper, died Monday, July 09, 2012 at her home. She was born in Savannah, GA on August 26, 1923, to Alan Smith and Ruth Anderson O’Neal. She was the granddaughter of Neal L. Anderson, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Winston-Salem

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was graduated from Salem College and was a member of the Junior League of Winston-Salem, the Sorosis Club, the Women’s Reading Club of Winston-Salem and a docent of Reynolda House. She worked for Stokes County Welfare Department prior to marriage.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Eugene Vance Pepper in 1988 and a brother, Alan S. O’Neal, Jr. in 1982.

She is survived by her two children, E. Vance Pepper, Jr. (Pam) of Winston-Salem and Charlotte Pepper Faulkner (Jon) of Chattanooga, TN.; a sister, Nancy O’Neal Garner of Durham, NC and a brother, Neal O’Neal of Valdosta, GA; five grandchildren, Katie Pepper, Anna Pepper, Alan Faulkner (Kathryn), Vance Faulkner and Waters Faulkner.

The graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 13 at Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Salem Funeral Home, Main St. Chapel on Thursday, July 12 from 7-9 p.m. Online condolences may be made through www.salemfh.com.
