Joseph M. Navarro

Mr. Joseph M. Navarro, of Winston-Salem, died on Wednesday, January 25,
2012, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

Joe was born on October 7, 1945, in Gallagher, West Virginia, the son
of Manuel Navarro and Matilda Pratt Navarro (both deceased).

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elaine; daughters, Amelia, of
Winston-Salem, and Susan (Daniel) Smelcer, of Atlanta, Georgia;
grandson, Joseph Daniel Smelcer; sister, Mimi (Russell) Kees, of
Hansford, West Virginia; and brother, Donald (Tina) Navarro, of
Powellton, West Virginia.

Joe was a long-time employee of Leggett & Platt, Inc., ending his
career as a Vice President of Operations. He was a member of the Rotary
Club of Clemmons. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed working on cars and
served as both treasurer and president of Clubvette.

The family will receive friends at Salem Funeral and Cremations on
Reynolda Road (corner of Reynolda Road and Polo Road) from 5 - 8 on
Saturday, January 28.

Memorials may be made to the Forsyth County Humane Society in
recognition of Joe's devotion to his beloved pets, Missy, Daisy, Zoe,
and Chloe.

I worked with Joe for many years and truly enjoyed our many conversations especially those where we just called to chat! He was a wonderful mentor, colleague and a friend. He believed in our son and gave him the opportunity to work at Linwood. We would always visit Joe and the other employees at Linwood on our visits to Winston-Salem. Joe and our son found a compassion for cars and enjoyed going to shows together. Our visit in September, Joe was bearming with joy knowing there soon would be a grandson.
