Mischa Daniele Gipson Sell
WINSTON SALEM, NC - Mischa Daniele Gipson Sell completed her life’s journey on Saturday January 21st, 2012 after a 6 year battle with breast cancer. Mischa—born March 8th, 1974 in Houston, Texas to Lawrence (deceased) and Linda Gipson—was a 1996 graduate of Salem College and proud alumnae. After graduation she worked for JC Penney Corporation and Truliant Federal Credit Union. After her cancer diagnosis, she dedicated herself to helping other cancer survivors and caring for her family. Mischa worked tirelessly as a cancer advocate especially in the young adult survivor community.
Those left to cherish her memories are her devoted husband David and two children, Trevor and Daniel; stepson, Dante’; brother Jason Gipson-Nahman, sister-in-law Tanya, and nephew Kenji, of Washington DC; mother Linda Burnette and stepfather Winston Burnette of Houston, Texas; stepsisters Raven Burnette of Houston, Texas, Jackie Burnette of Chicago, Illinois and stepbrother Winston Burnette Jr of Houston, Texas; grandmother Theresa Jackson of Corpus Christi, Texas and uncle Gordon Eaglin of Houston, Texas and her devoted chocolate Labrador Retriever Cocoa..
The family would like to thank the following integral partners on this cancer journey: Dr. Scott Washburn of Lyndhurst Gynecological; Jim Green of the Dummit Law Firm; the entire staff at the Dale Davis Cancer Center, with especially special thanks to Dr. Eugene Paschold, PA Greg Robins and Nurse Paula Norman. The family also owes much gratitude to Cancer Services, First Descents, Wind River Cancer Retreats and the Jack & Jill Foundation.
A visitation celebrating Mischa’s life will be held at Salem Funeral Services, downtown Winston Salem, on Friday, January 27 at 6 pm, with a church service the following day, Saturday January 28, at 1pm at Oak Grove Moravian Church, Walkertown, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the children’s college fund in her honor, Mischa Sell Memorial Fund at any Suntrust Bank location (you must be in person and inform them this is Mischa’s business account). Otherwise, online donations may be made through Paypal at mendsimage@hotmail.com (with a note to transfer funds to the Mischa Sell Memorial Fund).

David, Mischa was an inspiration to me. I'm truly sorry for you, the boys & the rest of the family's loss. Through facebook, I have traveled a very small percent with you & shared her stories & now yours...with my own family. I can only imagine that you have & will experience things that may not make sense but remember Proverbs 3:5-8: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health yo your flesh and strength to your bones." I know that those lil men will need you more than ever 7 vice versa to keep her legacy alive.
Take care & remember to speak to the Lord as you go throughout your day.
