Caskets
If you choose a traditional funeral service, you will need to choose
a casket for service and burial. You have the option to rent a casket from the funeral
home, although your choices are more limited. These rented caskets are used only
for the service, and we welcome your inquiry. If you choose to purchase a casket,
this casket will also be used for burial. There are many caskets to choose from.
You will choose between a wooden casket or a metal casket. There are other options
available such as memory safe drawers, memory corners, panels, plaques and a special
casket for veterans which includes a flag case.
Memory safe drawers are drawers that are made inside the casket
and contain personal items to be kept close to your loved one.
Memory corners are a variety of decorative corners that can be
fitted on the casket. These often are visual symbols that speak to a loved one's
life.
The panels and plaques are placed on the casket and can be engraved
with a message of your choosing.
Salem Funerals & Cremations also has access to alternative
containers that are suitable and legal for burial. Please come and
speak with us directly regarding the purchase of an alternative container.
In many states, vaults are not required by law. However, most cemeteries require
vaults to keep the grave site from sinking. You will find many different vault options,
and we will be happy to assist you and answer any questions.
Cremation services
If you choose a cremation service, you will have a few different
choices to make. You may take advantage of a rental caskets to use during a service
before the cremation occurs. You may also choose to cremate the remains in either
a cremation casket or a cremation container. Cremation caskets resemble funeral
caskets. You will need to choose an urn. There are many different
types of urns to choose from. You can pick one of our impressive cast bronzed urns,
keepsake urns (which is one that is kept in the home), or traditional hardwood urns.
The Vogler funeral home has a large selection of urns that you can browse in our
showroom. We would be happy to assist and answer any questions you may have about
selecting an urn.
